Genocide victims’ associations in Bosnia and Herzegovina are organising a rally on May 9 in downtown Sarajevo to express support for the victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The rally, organised by the Association of Witnesses and Victims of Genocide and the Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves, will take place in front of the Eternal Flame and the Memorial of the Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995 on Monday morning.

The head of the Movement of Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa Enclaves, Munira Subasic, told N1 that members of her association understand what the people in Ukraine are going through and want to send them the message that they are not alone.

“It is incomprehensible that children are being killed, children who don’t even know who or what they are,” she said.

“We victims of the genocide in Srebrenica absolutely understand them and it is unfortunate that in the 21st century we are witnessing such horrible scenes from Ukraine,” she said.

Subasic invited citizens to join the rally and show their support for the people of Ukraine.
