The aid sent by the Bosnian Muslim charity "Merhamet" has reached the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the charity said Tuesday adding that it consists of 5,000 meals distributed by Merhamet's partner organization IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) from Turkey.

According to the head of the “Merhamet” charity Kenan Vrbanjc, this is only the first part of the total aid intended for the Palestinian people, and it was collected within the “Merhamet” action “Help to the people of Palestine”.

“So far, over 56,000 Bosnian marks (some €28,000) have been collected in our action ‘Help the people of Palestine’. The action is still going on, and we invite the citizens of BiH and those living abroad, institutions and partner organizations to join and contribute to the action, in order to help as many endangered Palestinians as possible,” Vrbanjac noted.

The “Merhamet” of Sweden, “Merhamet” of Norway, as well as all “Merhamet's” organizational units in BiH also took part in the action.

The aid was distributed on the basis of a Cooperation Protocol signed by the two humanitarian organizations on June 11 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Bosnian citizens can still donate funds by calling the humanitarian phone number 090292001 and the value of the call is 3 Bosnian marks (approx. €1.5)
