The Messer oxygen filling station in Rajlovac near Sarajevo is completely underwater, Goran Cerkez from the Federation entity’s Ministry of Health told N1 Friday, adding that the Ministry is working on finding a solution or a replacement plant.

In the meantime, N1 also contacted Avdo Dedic, the director of the company Messer, which is the only authorized company in the country for the production and trade of medical oxygen.

"Hospitals that have a central oxygen supply will be in a more favourable position, however, no hospital in BiH has only the central supply, and there are many hospitals only using oxygen containers. If we fail to fill the containers today, meaning if we don’t get approval from the competent authorities, we simply don’t know what to do, I think that patients will be left without oxygen and that will be an unforeseeable consequence for all of us," he said.

In an earlier statement for N1, Goran Cerkez said that they had informed all crisis headquarters that the rational use of oxygen should be taken into account.

Bosnia was hit by flash floods after intensive rain over the past 24 hours. The most difficult situation is in the Sarajevo region, but as clouds move, the situation is spreading across the rest of the country.
