Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity Public Health Institute announced a public call for the disposal of 55,000 AstraZeneca Covid vaccines that have already expired, Nezavisne daily reported Friday.

So far, 55,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines have expired, which, when donated, had a shelf life of 30 to 60 days, the Institute noted.

The public call is conceived in such a way that, if necessary, medical waste is successively destroyed, and the price is formed on the basis of the unit price per kilogram of that waste.

“Accordingly, we still do not know how much the destruction of vaccines will cost,” said the Institute of Public Health.

News outlets reported earlier that a similar scenario will happen in Bosnia’s other entity, the Federation (FBiH), where 340,183 donated doses of mostly AstraZeneca will be unusable next month.
