Acting Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganic told N1 they are investigating allegations made by the US Treasury Department who sanctioned Diana Kajganic, one of Bosnia’s state prosecutors, and that they are looking into other prosecutors suspected of using a messaging app called Sky.
Other prosecutors include Dubravko Campara and Oleg Cavka.
“A case has been opened on which two prosecutors are working and they are checking all possible corrupt connections of colleague Kajmakovic with certain criminal groups and individuals from organized criminal groups. Fellow prosecutors will take into account the aforementioned decision of the US authorities and I can state that at the beginning of the year I opened a case concerning individuals who, on any basis, have been placed on sanctions lists in the last few years, among others, by the US, and that in that case, together with colleagues from the USA, they collecting evidence of corrupt activities”, Kajganic said.
N1 wrote about the ongoing investigation of Dozens of suspects, including police officers and judicial officials, as part of a crackdown on organised crime and drug trafficking in Bosnia. Investigators are analysing private conversations conducted via the Sky and Anom messaging apps.
The finalisation of investigations and prosecutorial decisions in cases concerning the use of the Sky app is expected in 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
The public was also shocked by the news of a conversation between two alleged criminals who, in an encrypted conversation, apparently mentioned the name of state prosecutor Diana Kajmakovic. Kajmakovic worked on the Sky and Anom cases and was removed from the prosecutorial team investigating the conversations because of this.
The latest development in cases related to the investigation into the encrypted conversations is that the Court of BiH has extended the custody of Dalibor Railic, who is suspected of the murder of the chief of the criminal police in Prijedor, Radenko Basic, by another 3 months.
