Commemoration ceremonies were held at cemeteries in Bratunac and the villages of Biljaca and Sasa for the Bosnian Serb civilians and soldiers who were killed 30 years ago on St. Peter's Day.

Mothers visit the graves of their sons, and sisters visit their brothers’ graves to mourn them. They say that the pain is the same as the first day, maybe even worse because no one was held accountable for this crime.

The head of the Organization of Families of Captured and Killed veterans and Missing Civilians from Bratunac, Radojka Filipovic, told N1 that “the BiH judiciary sent them a clear message that they will not prosecute any case of war crimes where the victims were Serbs.”

“The goal is not to distort the image that only Bosniaks were killed in these areas. On this day, 22 Serbs disappeared in Zalazje. When they [the Missing Persons Commission of BiH] were looking for Bosniaks in 2010, they accidentally found a mass grave with 10 Serbs. Two more were found earlier. Today we are looking for 10 more killed in Zalazje in 1992. Institutions should be allowed to do their job and process all cases. Because, only when we identify the people who committed these terrible crimes, put them behind bars and prevent them from associating with like-minded people, will we be able to talk about peace and coexistence in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Filipovic.

Luka Petrovic is a Republika Srpska Army veteran who was wounded three times. He lost his mother in the war, and his brother became disabled. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in Potocari by himself.

“No one was held accountable for these people who were killed, and it is high time that someone was held accountable. Everyone came to Potocari yesterday, and I respect that, but no one came here today,” Petrovic said.

He pointed out that it is difficult to live in Potocari because “the Republika Srpska (RS) entity authorities talk and promise a lot, but do nothing concrete.” Another problem, he emphasized, is that there are no more people living there.

A memorial service was held at the Zalazje monument near Srebrenica for those killed on St. Peter's Day in 1992, as well as for all other Serb civilians and fighters from this municipality who died in 1992-1995 war.
