Fully vaccinated citizens of Sarajevo Canton can as of July 14 get their COVID vaccine certificates, and the QR code inserted in the document will enable its quick online authentication, said Sarajevo Canton Public Health Institute.

The citizens who got their COVID vaccine outside the canton will also be able to file for the digital certificate.

“At this moment, the vaccination certificate is only for those who received both doses of the vaccine, but in the following period, the certificates will also be issued for those who received only one dose. The QR code on the certificate allows online authentication of the document and it can be scanned with a mobile phone camera (or any scanner) for an online link to verify the specified document. The document is easily verifiable from anywhere in the world, because the QR code scan and the link it shows will open an online vaccination certificate,” the statement said.

The Institute said the certificate was designed in line with the European Union guidelines and can be verified in real time, but it is up to the member states whether they will accept this certificate as a valid document or not.

“Some countries have their own methodology for the acceptance of the vaccine certificates that have not been approved by the EU regulatory agency. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a member of the EU and is not a signatory of the EU COVID passport agreement, all citizens are adviced to check the conditions for entry into the country they want to travel and valid documentation regarding the certificate, its issuer and type of the vaccine the person has received,” it added.

The digital certificates can be obtained via this link.
