Milorad Dodik, the outgoing Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency and the leader of the SNSD party, addressed the media on Tuesday and announced criminal charges against all members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after this institution said it would conduct the ballot recount for the post of Republika Srpska President.

Dodik assessed this move as an attack on Republika Srpska, Bosnia's Serb majority region.

Commenting on the decision of the Bosnian Central Election Commission to carry out an investigation into the election for the Republika Srpska President and to order a ballot recount for that position, Dodik stressed that the election was legal and that everything that followed is a manipulation intended to produce a different situation.

He also said that there is an “obvious connection between the Commission members and the representatives of the opposition.”

“Election results cannot be subject of suspicion. We will file criminal charges against all members of the CEC individually because we believe that they violated the rights of others to a fair legal procedure because they made it impossible to file any appeal”, said Dodik who ran for the post of Republika Srpska President.

The Central Election Commission's decision came after the opposition in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina reported irregularities following the October 2 general elections.

The opposition also gathered thousands of citizens in two protests in Banja Luka, the region's administrative centre, to raise the voice against alleged electoral fraud.

SNSD leader reiterated that yesterday's decision is just a way in which the Commission is trying to “create a problematic Republika Srpska”.

“Republika Srpska must be aware that this is the final point where we are fighting for its future. If they challenge our right to choose – then we have no right. Then it remains for us to organise around the idea of the independence of Republika Srpska, and that will be an activity that we will carry out in the coming time”, he added.
