The Serb member of Bosnia and Herzegovina's tripartite presidency, who was received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Tuesday, said that he was not intimidated by possible sanctions which the USA can impose on him.

He said that he would continue pursuing his plan to separate the Bosnian Serb entity from Bosnia and Herzegovina's constitutional and legal order.

Dodik also told the press that he and the Turkish president had agreed that peace had no alternative and that “threats to use violence cannot solve any problem.”

Dodik told the Serb entity's radio station that sanctions were on the table but that he was not intimidated by them.

Sanctions will not produce effects. That arrogance cannot pass, Dodik said in his comment on his talks with the special US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, in Sarajevo on Monday.

Escobar said on Monday that he expected the Bosnian Serb leader to back down from his secessionist plans.

The US envoy told the BHRT public broadcaster in Sarajevo that sanctions and economic measures could be taken against leaders who are conducting anti-Dayton activities and companies that support those politicians.
