BiH Presidency member and leader of the ruling party in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, asked the RS Justice Ministry to prepare a set of laws on preventing hate speech and the spread of fake news, among other things.

He stated that this set of laws should be adapted to European conventions.

“It is the Law on Preventing the Spread of Fake News, the Law on Preventing Hate Speech, the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code with the introduction of defamation and insult into the Criminal Code as a criminal offense, and the expansion of criminal offenses against the constitutional order. Along with this, a new law on the work and conduct of representatives of the Republika Srpska at the joint level should be prepared and adopted,” Dodik wrote on Twitter.

Dodik, who has often suggested that the RS entity should secede from the country, is considered one of the politicians who make frequent use of hate speech in their political campaigns.
