The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the first-instance verdict Friday by which Dragan Vikic, the former BiH Police Commander, and the others were acquitted of the murders of eight prisoners of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) in Sarajevo's Great Park on April 22, 1992. This means that Dragan Vikic, Jusuf Pusina, Nermin Uzunovic and Mladen Covcic were acquitted based on the second instance verdict.

Vikic's lawyer Adna Dobojlic confirmed this information for N1.

“The first-instance verdict was confirmed, and the appeal of the BiH Prosecutor's Office was rejected as unfounded,” said Dobojlic.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office requested the annulment of the first-instance verdict.

As a former commander of the Special Forces unit and of the Reserve Unit, Vikic was accused of failing to prevent or take measures to punish subordinates. Pusina who was Assistant Minister of the Interior for Uniformed Police, was indicted on the same charges. Uzunovic and Covcic were accused as former members of the Police Reserve Unit.
