Members of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tripartite Presidency, Sefik Dzaferovic and Milorad Dodik, met with EU’s Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak Friday, at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

The three discussed the current political situation in the country and the Western Balkans – in the context of the security situation in Europe after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

A special topic of discussion was BiH’s EU candidate status.

Dzaferovic said that the European Union should view enlargement as a geopolitical, not an administrative issue and that it should be sensitive to speeding up the accession process of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also said that BiH will fulfil the conditions set by the European Commission for candidate status, in case the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly confirms the laws on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council and the conflict of interest, which have already been adopted by the BiH PA House of Representatives.

The adoption of these laws from the European agenda would stabilize the situation in the country and contribute to calming of the crisis, which should be an imperative for all political actors in the country and an indicator of their responsible approach to people in BiH and the current security situation in Europe.
