The deployment of 500 additional EUFOR troops to Bosnia and Herzegovina does not mean that peace is endangered in the country, the head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler, told N1, explaining that the move was made as a precautionary measure.

Sattler said that he believes that the soldiers will be deployed to places where there were tensions before.

He said that EUFOR is not the only force to guarantee stability in BiH, arguing that the country also has its own Armed Forces, which the European Union supported since its establishment.

Sattler called the war in Ukraine a massive and unprecedented blow to the international order and argued that the EU also acted in a swift and unprecedented way.

He stressed that all countries in the region, including BiH and Serbia, were right to support the resolution condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Sattler said he does not believe there is a danger of the conflict spilling over to the region, but stressed that, as long as there is the slightest risk of that happening, precautions have to be taken.

The EU official said he is pleased with the decision to deploy the additional EUFOR troops in the country.
