Members of Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity Metalworkers' Union gathered in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo, on Saturday, May Day, where their representative, Bajro Melez, said that they are giving the authorities a 30-day period to start negotiations on branch agreements. If they do not fulfil that, he announced: "We are going into a big revolt, we will not tolerate this anymore."

Melez recalled that this union represents 70,000 workers and that their demands were joined by seven industrial branch unions whose representatives protested with them.

“Our demands are that the lowest salary in FBiH be determined urgently and without delay. This request is from 2019 when all the unions accepted it. They must free the economy from high levies urgently and without delay. We have the highest levies in BiH, over 70 percent. We have provided an opportunity for the FBiH Government and employers to reach an agreement, and we will raise our hand for an agreement. Authorities rushed before to get the vaccines before waiting their turn. Give the vaccines to those who work behind machines and contribute to this country,” Melez said.

He said that negotiations with representatives of employers on branch contracts would begin in the second half of May so that “industrial unions would have legal branch contracts”. Authorities were given 30 days to begin negotiations. Otherwise, they announced a great revolt.
