The basketball international federation has issued a new 'Power rankings' list of best teams at the Women's EuroBasket, listing the Bosnian national team, which qualified for the quarter-finals, the first one in the history, as the sixth team and calling their success in this competition as "somewhat of a fairytale."

After beating Croatia 80-69 and qualifying for its first ever quarter-finals in an international competition, the Bosnians will face on Wednesday the favoured France – the first team on FIBA's ‘Power rankings’ list.

But, whatever happens in that game, according to the official website of the basketball federation, the story of the Bosnian team is already “something of a fairytale.”

“You know the basics and they keep making history as they left the group stage for the first time, made the Quarter-Finals for the first time and won three games for the first time. Now could they take the chance of moving towards a first global outing via the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments?,” it said.

Although the Bahama-born Jonquel Jones who plays for the Bosnian team is among the best players of the tournament, FIBA's website reminds Bosnia has other excellent players including Marica Gajic and Nikolina Babic:

“A great story and one that maybe has more legs and can continue to run. Well done Coach Goran Lojo!.”
