The Association of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Zepa enclaves publically demanded an end to the blockades in the prosecution of war criminals, key persons on the A lists of suspects according to the Revised War Crimes Prosecution Strategy.

“One year after the adoption of the Revised War Crimes Prosecution Strategy, it remains a ‘dead letter.’ Over 300 cases of category A from the Rules of the Road submitted by the Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia are hidden from the public and nothing is being done about them, despite the Annex B of the Strategy which stipulates that these cases are absolute priorities in the work of the Prosecutor's Office in BiH,” the Associations of Mothers of Enclaves of Srebrenica and Zepa wrote.

They demanded that the implementation of the Revised Strategy be approached urgently, requesting that the international community inspect and control the approved and unblocked funds that have been made available to the competent institutions by the BiH government.

“It is unacceptable that the blockade of the Revised Strategy not only protects war criminals but is part of regional obstructions and blockades of the persecution of war criminals carried out by Serbia and Croatia. Victims’ associations have continuously submitted lists of individuals linked to crimes, who are named in verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, however, the blockade of the process of registration of the Hague Tribunal verdicts by the BiH Justice Ministry and the Council of Ministers (as the BiH government is officially called) protects the wae crimes suspects from prosecution,” the Association said.

They warned that unless obstructions are removed urgently, they will demand that key persons on the A list of the Rules of the Road and in the Tribunal's judgments be prosecuted by competent international courts and mechanisms.
