The leader of Bosnia’s Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) Dragan Covic congratulated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and leader of HDZ in that country Andrej Plenkovic on the “excellent election results”, the party said Monday.

“I congratulate you on the success of our sister organization as a whole and all the candidates who represented it in these local elections. The unity you have lived in these months of the official campaign, but also the one we have lived for over 30 years, motivates us to build our Croatia even stronger for all future generations and the Croat people as a whole around the world. Let this result be a strong incentive for all the new challenges and new successes that you will achieve,” said Covic.

He added that their success is a huge motivation for the HDZ BiH in resolving the Croat national question in Bosnia and Herzegovina and preventing alleged discrimination against them.

Croatia held its local elections on Sunday and the preliminary results released by the State Election Commission (DIP) show that six Croatian counties elected their prefects in the first round of voting, with candidates winning more than 50 percent of the votes.

Of those six prefects, four are representatives of the ruling centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
