Death threats were sent to Dragan Covic, the leader of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) and Ivo Tadic, the head of the Croat Caucus in the House of Peoples of the Federation (FBiH) of BiH entity, the party said Tuesday.

According to the party statement, the threats were sent on Monday, March 21, 2022, on the Facebook page of the Zenica-Doboj Canton’s HDZ BiH Cantonal Board.

“The death threat occurred in an atmosphere when efforts are being made to amend the election law to implement the judgments of the BiH Constitutional Court and the Court of Human Rights and to ensure the equality of the Croat people and legitimate representation in the FBiH and BiH institutions.” reads the HDZ statement.

“Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the HDZ BiH leader, Dragan Covic and Ivo Tadic are threatened with death due to their political engagement and struggle for the political rights and equality of the Croat people in BiH,” they pointed out, adding that in 2011 there was a death threat and attempted murder when a bomb exploded under Ivo Tadic's car in front of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Assembly building.

The party stated that the case was reported to the Zenica-Doboj Canton’s police, and they expect to find the perpetrator as soon as possible and take all actions in accordance with the law.
