The recent statement of Russian Foreign Affairs Minister, Sergey Lavrov, regarding the Jewish origins of Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is “anti-Semitic” and implies a narrative that Jews “are always to blame for everything in the world,” the head of the Jewish Community in BiH, Jakob Finci, told N1.

According to CBS News, Lavrov's comments came after he was asked how Russia can claim to be “denazifying” Ukraine when the country's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is Jewish.

“When they say ‘What sort of nazification is this if we are Jews,’ well I think that Hitler also had Jewish origins, so it means nothing (…) For a long time now we've been hearing the wise Jewish people say that the biggest anti-Semites are the Jews themselves,” Lavrov said, according to Reuters.

“Even today, Jews are being blamed for Hitler, because Hitler was allegedly a Jew. Hitler is probably turning in his grave over such statements, especially from a minister who also used to be a minister in the USSR,” Finci told N1.
