International envoy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, High Representative Christian Schmidt, commended Bosnia's Central Bank for acting in the best interest of the country snd preserving the stability of the domestic currency.
Speaking to Central Bank Governor, Senad Softic, Schmidt expressed full support for this institution and the work of its Board of Governors, stressing that “preserving the continuity of its work and its independence from politics is vital to BiH's overall stability and development,” said a statement issued by the Office of the High Representative.
“The BiH Central Bank contributes to preserving the stability of the domestic currency and the banking sector, even during global crises. Most recently, it distributed in due time the IMF allocation to BiH intended to mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. International credit rating agencies, whose reports guide investment decisions, have repeatedly recognized this important role of the BiH Central Bank,” said Schmidt.
