High Rep: Swift implementation of election results needed to tackle key issues

The High Representative of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, welcomed the appointment of judges to the Constitutional Court of BiH’s Federation (FBiH) entity, stressing that the entity needs “fully functional institutions and swift implementation of election results to tackle key issues such as corruption and the outflow of youth.”

On Wednesday, the House of Peoples approved the appointment of judges to vacant seats in the FBiH Constitutional Court at an extraordinary session with 33 votes in favour, six abstentions and six against their appointment.

“High Representative takes note of today's appointment of judges to fill the vacant seats in the FBiH Constitutional Court. FBiH needs fully functional institutions and swift implementation of election results to tackle key issues such as corruption and the outflow of youth”, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) posted on Twitter.

Schmidt's also stressed that he expects the remaining vacant seat in the FBiH Constitutional Court to be filled as soon as possible.
