International peace envoy in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt has condemned the threats and personal attacks against members of Bosnia's to electoral authority, calling for appropriate action by responsible institutions.

“The High Representative extends his full and unequivocal support to the Central Election Commission as an independent state institution, its continued conduct of duties in line with the law and free from undue influence and political pressure,” said Schmidt's office.

The statement comes a day after the members of the Central Election Commission reported verbal attacks by outgoing Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik to the State Investigation and Protection Agency.

CEC member Vanja Bjelica-Prutina, one of two CEC BiH members from the country’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said Tuesday that because of her work, she “fears for the safety of her child when he returns from school”.

The CEC BiH President, Suad Arnautovic, also said that he was being “targeted” because of Dodik's statements that he was “anti-Serb,” that he “considers the RS a genocidal entity”, and that he “will do everything to harm that entity”.
