Bosnia's Croat Presidency member Zeljko Komsic said Thursday, on the occasion of marking the 76th anniversary of the breakthrough of detainees from the Ustasha camp Jasenovac in Croatia, that this place of suffering has not only the state but human and global importance - like any evil, especially when so many people were affected by it.

He pointed out that the lost human lives, suffering and evil associated with that place deserve that we remember them and pay homage to the shadows of the victims for purely humane reasons, and not for political or any other.

“That is the reason why I am here today, as I try to be every year if possible,” Komsic said in Donja Gradina.

He added that such things should be remembered and taught to children how humans can be evil, and how many sacrifices were the result of that evil so that our children can be better people and so that such evil never happens again.

“The area of the former Yugoslavia and the Balkans has been marked by a so much evil and blood, and I guess in today's world when nothing can be hidden, as a human race, we have reached the level where e can say that it is unacceptable for such things to happen anywhere else in the world,” Komsic pointed out.
