Over the past 30 days, 295 migrants with various bruises and injuries have been returned from Croatia to Bosnia’s Una-Sana Canton (USC), cantonal police spokesperson Adnan Beganovic told N1 Friday, adding that these migrants often needed medical attention upon arrival.

“The police will investigate what is happening in their field. During the month, the migrants were returned to the area of Buzim, Velika Kladusa and Bihac. Our police officers always record migrants’ reports regarding illegal actions committed by certain individuals. These reports are always forwarded to the BiH Security Ministry, which is responsible for further proceedings,” Beganovic said.

He pointed out that the scenes are not nice at all and that they always provide medical assistance to migrants with injuries.

According to the latest data, there are currently over 1,000 migrants in the USC’s three migrant reception centres and some 1,500 staying in private accommodation or abandoned facilities.

RTL TV show Potraga aired disturbing footage which masked individuals, with ski masks, hit migrants who are screaming with pain, thus forcibly directing them across the tributary of the Korana River from the territory of Croatia to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The footage had shocked the public. It also showed one of the masked men shouting after hitting the migrant with a baton: “Go to Bosnia.”

Lighthouse Reports recorded and analysed the videos and tags on the uniforms of masked individuals abusing migrants. The uniforms bear the insignia of the Croatian Intervention Police.
