Menachem Z. Rosensaft, a lecturer in law at the Columbia University and the Associate Executive Vice President of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), recently wrote an article criticising the denial of genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In an interview for N1, he called the denial of historical facts both “a serious problem” and “a disease.”

In his piece, Rosensaft criticised the Report on Sufferings of all People in Srebrenica region between 1992-1995, published recently by a commission headed by Israeli academician Gideon Greif, calling it an “embarrassment” and noting that the commission was appointed at the initiative of a “separatist, genocide-denying Bosnian Serb leader,” referring to Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency.

“It is an attempt by certain individuals to rewrite history for political or ideological purposes,” Rosensaft told N1's Esmir Milavic.

“The problem here is evident that the authors of this report went into it with a predetermined conclusion, and that conclusion that there was no genocide in Srebrenica, flies in the face of both the historical reality and the jurisprudential, the legal determinations by a series of tribunals, both at the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia and of the International Court of Justice in The Hague,” he added.
