The Wednesday session of the Mostar City Council was adjourned before the second round of the election of the Mostar Mayor, and the third continuation of the constituent session is scheduled for Monday, February 15, at 4 pm, Fena news agency reported Friday.

After the first round of voting for the Mayor was held two days ago, in which Mario Kordic (HDZ BiH) and Zlatko Guzin (Coalition for Mostar) received the most votes, the second and, if necessary, the third round of elections should have taken place Friday. At the very beginning of the session, the BH Bloc (SDP BiH, Our Party) requested a break for consultations regarding their proposal to introduce the institute of a “rotating mayor.”

After a break that lasted over an hour and a half, councillor Irma Baralija (Our Party) requested that the session be adjourned, which was accepted.

The Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) has the most seats in the City Council of Mostar, – 13, followed by the Coalition for Mostar (SDA, SBB, DF, SBiH, BPS) with 11 seats, BH Bloc (SDP BiH, Our Party) has five, the Croatian Republican Party has three and the First Mostar Party has two seats. The list “Stay here – Together for our Mostar” has one council seat.
A two-thirds majority is needed to win the first two rounds of mayoral elections, while in the last round of elections, a majority of councillors present is sufficient support.

In case of a tie, the younger candidate becomes Mayor.
