Mothers of Srebrenica ask Parliament to reject Bill on Abuse of Term Genocide

N1

The Bill on Prohibition of Abuse of the Term of Genocide proposed by MPs from Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity is in itself an attempt to abuse the Convention on Prevention of Crime of Genocide, the Association of Mothers of Enclaves of Zepa and Srebrenica said on Monday in their call to members of Bosnian Parliament to reject the said Bill.

“We would like to emphasize once again that the amendments to the BiH Criminal Code passed by the High Representative in BiH (on the ban on genocide denial and glorification of war crimes and war criminals) unequivocally regulate this area and provide protection to every individual and collective. The goal of amending the Law was to remove the publicly proclaimed responsibility of the people and to clearly emphasize the responsibility of individuals or groups of people who joined together to commit crimes,” the Association said.

The “proponents” of the “Bill” are the negators of the legacy of the International Court Tribunal for former Yugoslavia and the Residual Mechanism. What would be the consequences if the international community allowed the deniers of the Holocaust and Nirenberg verdicts to take part in the creation of conventions and laws on the Holocaust? This is what Bosnia is still being offered, today,” the Association concluded calling on the UN Security Council, the EU and the OSCE to stop the genocide deniers in destroying the international legal order and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
