After the news that High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt cancelled his appearance before the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) of the European Parliament on 30 November, Patria news agency reported on Thursday that he will still address the Foreign Affairs Committee, but on a different date.

The Office of the High Representative (OHR) told Patria that November 30 was never confirmed.

“High Representative Christian Schmidt spoke with Chairman David McAllister about addressing AFET, as he has done so before given that High Representative Schmidt has already addressed this institution. The appointment is currently being determined. The date of November 30 was one of the considered options, but it was never confirmed officially,” said the OHR.

At the request of the MEPs, the High Representative should answer the questions of the deputies regarding the last use of the Bonn powers when he imposed changes to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Constitution of the Federation (FBiH) entity, on the election night of October 2, in which, among other things, he increased the number of delegates in the FBiH House of the Peoples.

Tineke Strik, MEP previously announced that Schmidt accepted to appear before AFET.

After numerous deputies of this European institution strongly condemned his imposition of changes to the Electoral Law and the FBiH Constitution, it was agreed he would be invited to speak before the deputies of the European Parliament.
