Days after the cases of the new Omicron subvariant known as BA.2 were confirmed in Slovenia and Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina detected the Covid subvariant as well.

Alea Genetic Centre, a health institute that performs the virus sequences in cooperation with the Health Ministry of Bosnia's Federation entity, told N1 on Monday that the new virus subvariant was confirmed in three samples.

"We have been working for a long time and it has been determined that the omicron strain predominates,” said genetic expert Lana Salihefendic explained, adding that the suvariant BA.2 was detected in samples of a patient from Mostar and two patients from Sarajevo.
