Milorad Dodik, the newly elected President of Republika Srpska, Bosnia's Serb-majority region, announced a meeting with parliamentary political parties after taking the oath on Tuesday, stressing that he expects them to declare whether they want to be part of a broad coalition in order to secure a two-thirds majority in the entity parliament.

Dodik said in an Instagram post that post-election formation of authorities in Republika Srpska begins on Tuesday, November 15, with an inaugural session of the National Assembly, where he will be sworn in as the Republika Srpska President.

“Our goal is a swift formation of a stable government in order to continue working on priority economic issues that burden us and that require an adequate response from the institutions of the Republika Srpska,” Dodik said.

He also expressed hope that the political parties would “gather around Republika Srpska and thereby show its strength and work together to preserve national interests and create better conditions for the life of our people.”

Dodik previously served as the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency alongside the Bosniak and the Croat Presidency members.

He also said he would like to strengthen relations with friends in the region and the world and to implement projects that they previously defined as strategically important.

“I will work on that in the coming period,” said Dodik
