Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic was declared an honorary citizen of the Bosnian town of Visoko where he opened a tennis centre within the ‘Ravno 2’ park on Wednesday.
“The city of Visoko and the city council made a unanimous decision to declare Novak Djokovic an honorary citizen of the city of Visoko,” said Mayor Mirza Ganic.
He said that Djokovic has, with his engagement and support, “placed Visoko at the top of the world” and that guests from the region, as well as America, Australia and other countries, have visited the Bosnian town to attend the event.
“Thanks to Novak, the centre of the world is Visoko!” he said.
The ‘Ravno 2’ park is part of the “Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun” complex which the winner of 21 Grand Slam titles had visited several times throughout the past few years.
Other than Djokovic, many renowned sports figures, including Bosnian basketball star, Dzanan Musa, attended the opening of a new tennis centre.
