Number of tourist visits and overnight stays in Bosnia increases significantly

The number of tourist visits to Bosnia and Herzegovina during June has increased by 52.5 percent compared to the same month last year with the number of overnight stays for the same periods increasing by 45.3 percent, according to official data.

Tourists made 138,720 visits in June 2022 and made 301,619 overnight stays.

The participation of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays was 40.1 percent, while foreign tourists made 59.9 percent of the total number.

Tourists who dominate in the structure of overnight stays include visitors from Serbia (12.2 percent), Croatia (9.1 percent), Turkey (7.0 percent), Germany (5.8 percent), Saudi Arabia (5. 7 percent), Slovenia (4.8 percent), the USA (4.5 percent), Poland (4.5 percent), the United Arab Emirates (3.3 percent) and France (3.0 percent), which is a total of 59, 9 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 40.1 percent of overnight stays, according to data by the Bosnian Statistics Agency.

In terms of the length of stay of foreign tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first place in June was occupied by tourists from the Republic of South Africa with an average stay of 3.8 nights, followed by those from Kuwait with 3.4 nights, Latvia with 3.1 nights, France and Ireland with 3.0 each, and Egypt with 2.9 nights.

A total of 19,534 apartments and camping sites were available to tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout the month of June this year, which is 11 percent more compared to June 2021, and 42,686 available beds, which is 7.4 percent more compared to the same period in 2021.

In terms of the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays in June was achieved within the hotels and similar accommodation sector with a share of 92.5 percent.
