Although the same person who was elected mayor in Doboj in November 2020 won on the repeated local election on Sunday, the difference in the number of votes he received in those two elections indicates that there was election fraud the first time around, the leader of the opposition Serb Democratic Party (SDS) told N1.

Bosnia's Central Election Commission (CEC) decided to annul the results of the 2020 local election in Doboj and Srebrenica due to alleged election fraud, and the eleciton was repeated in the two towns last Sunday.

SDS leader Mirko Sarovic told N1 that although Boris Jerenica, from the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), is the winner of the election again, the difference in votes he received in November last year and on last Sunday proves that there was election fraud.

“The mayor received over 30,000 votes on November 15, and now less than 20,000 votes at the repeated election, which indicates that electoral engineering was conducted in November and we proved election fraud,” Sarovic said.

He also mentioned the case of SNSD candidate Sanja Vulic, “Who received over 22,000 in November, and now has about 4,500 votes.”

“That was our main goal. to prove that mass fraud was committed at all levels and that we rightly objected,” he said.

Sarovic said his party is not satisfied with its election result, but that they are better than they were in November last year.

There was less election fraud this time because those organising it had fewer opportunities for it, he argued.
