A record 115,000 Bosnian Marks were collected at the 15th Race for the Cure in Sarajevo on Sunday.
Some 8,000 people registered for the Race for the Cure event in Bosnia’s capital.
All funds collected from registrations will be used for the distribution of first aid packages to every newly operated woman in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the organization of free mammography examinations for the socially vulnerable population, psychosocial assistance to sick women and education of citizens about the disease.
The goal of this humanitarian event is to support women in the fight against breast cancer and to point out the importance of regular preventive examinations.
Among the participants were members of the Association of Breast Cancer Patients.
At the event, it was announced that, with the support of the Municipality of Stari Grad, the first Think Pink Center will be opened – a center for the empowerment of women suffering from breast cancer and the prevention of the disease. It will be the first institution of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will provide services to women across BiH.
