The reexhumation of the remains of victims of the genocide committed in the Srebrenica area in the summer of 1995 began Tuesday in the cemetery of the Srebrenica Memorial Center - Potocari. This is the 15th reexhumation of genocide victims. Remains found later are added to the incomplete bodies. This year, 85 graves will be opened.

Sadik Selimovic, a member of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, told N1 that this process will last seven days.

“This is one of the most painful processes in this process that shows and proves the extent and how the crime against the dead people of Srebrenica was committed. They were thrown into mass graves and then transported to several locations. We have cases where we are reexhuming the bodies for the second time, to add bones. In 95 percent of cases, the bodies are incomplete. It's getting harder and harder to find mass or individual graves,” Selimovic told N1.

They expect that some bodies will never be found, like those men who were shot by the Foca-Miljevina road, and then pushed into the Bistrica river. On the other hand, the morgue has the remains of several victims that no one can identify.

“There is a war going on here, not with arms but with all other possible means, the intelligence services from Serbia are ploughing the country and no one can see it,” said Selimovic.
