Elections for me are not ”to be or not to be” question, but for the ruling majority in Bosnia's Republika Srpska (RS) entity they are just that, RS opposition MP Nebojsa Vukanovic said for N1, Wednesday.

“Elections for me are not ‘to be or not to be’ question but for them [the ruling majority], who committed such crimes against these people they are. They [the ruling parties] are aware that if they stop being in power and their deeds are uncovered, that will be enough for three life sentences,” Vukanovic said.

He added that Bosnian citizens are hostages to 3-4 families and alleged criminal organisations that call themselves political parties.

“They are the root of all evil. Nothing gets done in the RS without (Milorad) Dodik’s approval. Just look at his wealth compared to the time before he became the RS Prime Minister,” Vukanovic pointed out.

Milorad Dodik and his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) came to power in 1998, after which he managed to stay in power performing top offices whether in Bosnia’s RS entity or as incumbent Bosnian Serb member of the Presidency, and his SNSD always forming the majority at the RS level.

“Neither Bakir Izetbegovic (the leader of the strongest Bosniak party – Democratic Action Party – SDA) nor Dodik are not aware of what might happen. Someone who has a mental handicap and who is physically stronger could come one day and make a problem. A blind man once grabbed my arm asking whether I was circumcised, after Dodik’s statements. That could have been someone much stronger physically,” Vukanovic warned.

When asked if he would be the RS opposition's Serb Presidency candidate, he said he would definitely beat Dodik if that were the case.

“If that were the case, I’d beat Dodik 65-35 percent. I’d beat him right now if elections were to be held tomorrow. I’d beat hit,” he stressed.

The opposition MP also assed he has the support both from Bosniaks and Serbs in the diaspora.

Commenting on Dodik’s statements of Bosnia’s peaceful dissolution and RS’ independence, Vukanovic said that “Our country is becoming deserted while we’re fighting about the border.”

He claims that everyone is aware by now that such statements only serve Dodik to divert the public's attention from real problems. According to him, the opposition has revealed Dodik's plans in the National Assembly of the RS and they are driving him crazy by revealing hid fake patriotism.
