Newly appointed Russian Ambassador in Bosnia, Igor Kalabukhov, proposed Bosnia to be included in the Group of Strategic Vision ‘Russia – Islamic World’, which aims to strengthen cooperation between Russia and countries where Muslims live, during a meeting with BiH’s House of Peoples Chairman, Bakir Izetbegovic, on Wednesday.

According to the BiH Parliament's public affairs office, the two met to speak about strengthening cooperation between Russia and Bosnia on political, economic and cultural issues and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

They announced that a visit of BiH officials to Russia will be organised where a series of bilateral agreements are to be signed.

Izetbegovic wished Kalabukhov a successful mandate in Bosnia.

The Group of Strategic Vision ‘Russia – Islamic World’ consists of “33 famous statesmen and public figures from 27 Muslim states, including the former prime ministers, the former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, a number of the largest theologians of the Islamic East from Indonesia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, and many others,” the Group’s website says.
