International investment conference, the Sarajevo Business Forum, has opened in Sarajevo on Wednesday in presence of the Bosnian and foreign officials as well as the entrepreneurs and representatives of the business world.

After a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event has resumed the tradition of gathering of the key business and political figures from the region and the world.

This year's edition of the Forum is held under the motto ‘Nearshoring – a perspective for the region’, i.e. a practice of relocating of production capacities of European companies to BiH and other countries of the region.

The first day of the event will focus on the economic recovery following the pandemic, and the event will be among others addressed by former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, former prime minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev, head of the Istanbul Trade Chamber Sekib Avdagic, a representative of the European Investment Bank for BiH and North Macedonia Sandrine Friscia, and other representatives of some 40 countries.

Organisers will hand over the prestigious Sarajevo Business Bridge Awards to the companies and individuals who made a contribution to the development of entrepreneurship, sustainable development and the investment climate in the region through their business, innovative ideas and youth employment, at a ceremony at the State Parliament's building.
