Serbian President Aleksandar Vuci said that the newly appointed High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, is a "serious man" who does not hate Serbia, but that it will "be harder" for the Bosnian Serb entity called Republika Srpska (RS), the Beta news agency reported Tuesday.

Christian Schmidt is a very serious man, he is a very good acquaintance of mine. He is one of the most powerful politicians in Germany. I don't think he hates Serbia and the Serb people. But on the other hand, I understand the views of President Dodik and the people in the RS who are fed up with the arrival of people from abroad who should manage that country,” said Vucic speaking on Happy TV.

He added that “there is no doubt” that it will be harder for the RS because “the Germans will do their best to make, as they say, a functional state out of BiH, and that means taking over the competencies of the RS authorities.”

“Serbia must keep its back to both BiH and the RS within BiH because if Serbia does not do that, no one else will,” Vucic added.

Vucic is set to meet with RS officials in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss the appointment of a new High Representative to BiH for whom RS officials and the Russian Federation said they would not accept, claiming a violation of the previous rules how High Representatives were appointed.
