In the past 24 hours, 477 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia, with nearly every fifth test coming back positive, and there has been a significant increase in the number of daily infections and hospitalisations compared to last week.

With 477 or 19.2% of the 2,489 tests coming back positive, Slovenia’s infection rate has gone up significantly. A week ago, the country logged 318 new cases, with 15.5% of tests coming back positive, the authorities said.

Last week 49 patients were hospitalised and today there are 86 patients in hospital care, including 19 in intensive care units, ten of whom are intubated.

The number of active cases is 3,753, and the seven-day incidence is also up. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population is 178.

So far, 41.9% of the population has been fully vaccinated.

The Slovenian Public Health Institute released data according to which 99.3% of those infected have contracted the Delta variant of the virus.
