Switzerland appreciates Bosnia’s efforts in dealing with the migrant crisis and the Confederation will continue to support BiH in this regard, Swiss Justice and Police Minister Karin Keller-Sutter said during the Thursday press conference after meeting with the BiH Security Minister, Selmo Cikotic, in Sarajevo.
Cikotic said the two discussed all major forms of cooperation between the two countries, especially focusing on the issue of illegal migrations.
The Swiss Minister said that during the talks they both stressed the very privileged and very good relationship between BiH and Switzerland, especially on the issue of cooperation in the field of migration and police.
“BiH is an important transit country. The role of BiH is very important when it comes to preventing illegal migration. Switzerland greatly appreciates the work of BiH in this area and we also appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Security of BiH,” said Minister Keller-Sutter.
She pointed out that Minister Cikotic and she completely agreed that security is an issue that is being worked on together and that it is a joint task in the interest of our populations.
Cikotic noted that they agreed to continue the co-operation and step up efforts on migration management, but also on the border, registration, return of migrants as well as the fight against organized crime.
