Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ina Sovsun, recalled the 30th anniversary of the siege of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Yesterday was 30 years since the siege of Sarajevo began. Dozens of thousands were killed. The world didn't want to interfere, but then it did. These victims could have been prevented if the reaction had been swift. Today in Ukraine the same story. Now West is watching but could act,” Sovsun tweeted.

In a recent interview with N1, she said that Ukrainians do not want to live in a prison called Russia. The Ukrainian MP recalled that two weeks before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an interview in which he said Russia will not attack Ukraine. Two weeks after the invasion began, she recalled Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying his country did not invade Ukraine. For this reason, Sovsun asked can Ukrainian negotiators truly trust Russia when it comes to ongoing peace talks.
