Corruption abroad is just as serious as corruption inside the US as it represents concerns for our national safety, it undermines democracy, it is against our business interests, it undermines human rights weakens prosperity and safety and the US is determined to deal with it with all the means at their disposal, including sanctions, US Ambassador to Bosnia Eric Nelson said in an interview with N1.

Ambassador Nelson said the US are ready to use sanctions against anyone involved in corruption who are thus undermining the Western Balkans’ progress. However, he added that sanctions alone are not enough because citizens must sanction corrupt leaders through elections.

The US Ambassador would not name any specific individual threatened with sanctions but said that they will publicly announce how they plan to expand their sanctions and that anyone can be placed on the list.

According to him, the US is already expanding their procedures which would defend the US against the corrupt influence of individuals and protect BiH and help it in this fight.
