The US remains committed to the High Representative's mandate and full implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, US State Department Counselor Derek Chollet told Christian Schmidt, the international peace envoy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ahead of his biannual report on the situation in the country.

Chollet said he thanked High Representative Schmidt ahead of his report, which will be presented at the UN Security Council on May 11.

“The U.S. remains committed to the High Representative’s mandate and full implementation of Dayton to ensure all BiH’s citizens have the opportunity for a brighter future,” Chollet tweeted.

The High Representative and the Office of the High Representative, established in 1995 following the end of the 1992-95 Bosnian war, are in charge of overseeing the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which had put an end to the conflict and introduced the country's constitutional structure.

The envoy regularly reports on the situation in the country to the UN Security Council twice a year.
