Former Dinamo football club boss Zdravko Mamic said in Mostar on Tuesday that he had resigned as a member of Dinamo's assembly and asked to be relieved of duty as its consultant after the Supreme Court upheld the ruling sentencing him to six and a half years in prison for siphoning €15.46 million from Dinamo.

“I am no longer a member of any body in Dinamo and am no longer employed with it. My resignation is irrevocable,” Mamic said, adding that he would serve his sentence exclusively in Bosnia and Herzegovina if a decision to that effect was made.

Mamic, who holds dual Croatian and Bosnian citizenship, fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2018, the day before the announcement of the verdict sentencing him to six and a half years in prison.

Under the decision of the Supreme Court, which upheld the ruling of the Osijek County Court, the prison sentence for Mamić's brother Zoran was reduced from four years and 11 months to four years and eight months, while former tax official Milan Pernar's sentence was reduced from four years and two months to three years and two months.

The Supreme Court also quashed the part of the ruling that refers to accusations that Zoran Mamic incited Pernar to abuse of office, ordering a retrial for that part of the indictment.

The Supreme Court upheld the first-instance judgement for former Dinamo director Damir Vrbanovic sentencing him to three years in prison.

After the Supreme Court on Monday made its decision public, Zoran Mamic resigned as Dinamo's coach and sports director.

Under the Osijek County Court ruling, most of the money was siphoned from the Zagreb-based club through bogus annexes to contracts on the transfer of football players Dejan Lovren and Luka Modrić. Modric was indicted for perjury in the case but the court rejected the indictment.
