Mass vaccination in Bosnia's Canton Sarajevo will begin on Wednesday, cantonal Health Minister Haris Vranic said Monday, adding that first in line are some 7,500 elderly over the age of 75 who applied so far for the inoculation.

“We received 10,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from Serbia and they said they would send another 10,000. We have the AstraZeneca, and Sinovac vaccines, which we received from Turkey, at our disposal,” Vranic said, adding that they performed a drill vaccination on Monday giving them the green light for the real vaccination on Wednesday.

“Every day, 125 people of mid-level medical staff will be hired, 10 doctors will be present and 2 electrical engineers. We will have the ability to act at any time, and in case of failure we will have a person ready to intervene.”

According to him, the inoculation process will last approximately 20-25 minutes per patient.

“The Public Health Institute has its own application and from the moment a person is vaccinated, the staff will record the type of vaccine, time of the inoculation and where the vaccine was from. The patient will receive a bar-code as a “Covid passport” which can be checked at any border crossing. That bar code will prove the validity and the type of immunisation, ie the type of vaccine the person received,” the Health Minister said.
